Media Industry-My showreel
Media Industry-My Showreel
For my showreel, I wanted to keep it particularly short by including only 3 of my major projects, I started with the one that was the newest, my LGBT documentary. I added clips that stood out and encapture what the whole project was about while also showing the personality of my interviewees.
I then added the second documentary I've done about how self-identity is influenced by social media, I used a short clip of me discussing a point before I jumped back into interviews and finally, I added my tutorial video as it was the only one that I had an actual client for.
I wanted the music to be quite calming, as I felt it fit better with the serious issues I talk about in my documentaries and wouldn't take away from the voices I was trying to amplify.
Feedback
From the feedback, people thought my showreel was very on-brand, it fits together well with my website while also showing off my filmmaking skills, they liked how I included the title of every project I included on-screen as it gave context behind the footage.
To improve, my audience thought that I should lower the volume of the music (which was something I was struggling with how to figure out) and also include some behind the scenes videos.
Reflecting on this, if I was to make another showreel would definitely add more video footage as I think that having short little bursts of clips instead of long sections dedicated to one aspect, reveals more range and skills.Showreel edit
As stated above, I added a bit of behind the scenes footage of my work into the showreel. I also lowered and raised volumes of the audio and shortened some of the clips to make my showreel more snappy.
I added a new project as I felt like it made it flow better, for project to project.
